Cathedral of Sainte Cécile : This powerful and monumental structure is the largest brick building in the world. A Southern gothic masterpiece, there is a striking contrast between the defensive architecture of the exterior and the sumptuousness and extravagance of the interior.

Palais de la Berbie : This imposing fortress was completed at the end of the thirteenth century and offers a glimpse of times and spiritual outlook of the Bishops of Albi.

Toulouse Lautrec Museum : The former Episcopal place, built in the thirteenth century, provides an unusual setting for the paintings of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, a native of Albi.

Cordes sur Ciel

Cordes sur Ciel is one of Frances's most important medieval towns and a valuable European heritage site.

The land of the bastides

There are many walled towns, or bastides, in the area offering delightful walks, such as Cordes, Réalmont, Castelnau de Montmiral, Puycelsi, and Lisle-sur-Tarn. Take a day to explore the medieval streets with their wonderful light and shadows and discover some of the officially recognized Most Beautiful Villages of France (Plus Beaux Villages de France).
