Located in the communes of Marssac and Florentin, a dozen kilometers from Albi, Le Buc attracts the eye with a few large trees in a vast landscaped park where the buildings, with their “late 19th century” appearance, are located.

Built on much older foundations (between 1607 and 1684 by the Teissier d’Albi family), Le Buc, with its 1900 château, outbuildings and decorated dovecote, represents a homogeneous ensemble, where everything was planned so that the owner and his family could live comfortably, even luxuriously, in almost complete autarky.

Sold in 1890 by the Teissier family to the Dussap – Boé family, it was completely remodeled in 1894: an octagonal tower and second floor were added, as well as large terraces and a steeply pitched slate roof, all in the purest “chalet” style in vogue at the end of the century.

At the same time, Jean Boé commissioned a landscape architect fromAlbi to draw up a plan for a park covering 7 to 8 hectares, set in the middle of meadows and farmland. This project was implemented, and at the end of 1894, the Boé family moved into the refurbished Château du Buc. A time of splendor began at Le Buc, with horses, carriages, balls and constant visits.

In 2004,Le Domaine du Buc was transformed into a charming guest houses carefully preserved in its original appearance. The ups and downs of building maintenance and ageing plantations have had little impact on the “legibility” of the estate, where we can easily trace the life, ambitions and preoccupations of a great landed bourgeoisie, who prided themselves on living life to the full, in the image of pre-revolutionary aristocrats.1.

History buffs can ask us for more details or find information on the Buc estate Wikipedia page and in the Gazette des châteaux.
